OPEN DAYS “Sustainable Development Goals”

Yaounde November 5, 2018: The United Nations system in Cameroon is organizing from 7 to 9
November 2018 in Yaoundé, three open days on the theme of the Sustainable Development
Goals.

In 2015, the member countries of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals are unique in that
they are a call to action by all countries (poor, rich and middle-income), to promote prosperity
while protecting the planet.
In order to inform the people of the city of Yaounde and to make them aware of their role to play
in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nations system in Cameroon is
organizing three open days, from 7 to 8 November 2018 to Cameroon Cultural Center and
November 9, 2018 at the Muna Foundation. Conferences, debates and forums will be organized
around four themes according to the program below:
• Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Cameroon Cultural Center
09: 00-10: 00: Official opening of the Open House by the UN Resident Coordinator and UNICEF
Representative and visit of the stands
10h00-12h00: Conference debate on the theme: “Empowering young people in the context of
the SDGs in Cameroon”
14h00-16h00: Conference debate on the theme: Young people “commit to the environment and
the SDGs”
16:00: Closing of the stands
• Thursday 8 November 2018 at the Cameroon Cultural Center
9:00 am: Opening of the stands
10.00 – 12.00: Official launch of the “Youth Kamer for SDGs” platform under the patronage of the
Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System
14: 00-16: 00: Conference debate on the theme: “Imagine PEACE”
16:00: Closing of the stands
• Friday 9 November at the Muna Foundation
10h00-12h00: Symposium on the theme: “Financing the 2030 agenda”
12:00 pm: closing of the campaign
