KASU and GCSAYN Unite to Empower Youth and Champion Climate-Smart Agriculture for a Sustainable Future
Kaduna State University (KASU) has entered a strategic partnership with the Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network Global (GCSAYN) to promote sustainable development, innovation, and youth empowerment in agriculture. This collaboration, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), marks a significant milestone in advancing climate-resilient solutions and inclusive growth.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening research, community engagement, and institutional capacity-building in climate-smart agriculture and allied sectors. It reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to tackle pressing global development challenges through collaborative and innovative approaches.
As part of the implementation framework, KASU has launched an Internship Program facilitated by its GCSAYN Linkages Officer, Dr. Khali Allahmagani, and Co-Facilitator, Prof. Ibrahim Abbas Sodangi. The maiden cohort comprises 14 students drawn from the Departments of Biotechnology and Agricultural Science. The program is designed to equip students with practical skills, hands-on experience, and exposure to global best practices in sustainable agriculture.
Executive Director of GCSAYN, Mr. Divine Ntiokam, accompanied by Dr. Fakunle Aremu, commended KASU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, for his visionary leadership and support in fostering the partnership. They expressed optimism that the collaboration will empower emerging scholars, enhance academic research, and strengthen community resilience through sustainable, climate-responsive agricultural practices.
Also contributing to the success of the initiative are the departmental facilitators, Dr. Hauwa’u Yakubu Bako and Mr. Peter Adejo, whose involvement has been instrumental in coordinating student engagement and ensuring the effective delivery of the internship program at the grassroots level. This initiative embodies a shared vision of inclusive development, inter-generational equity, and a sustainable future for all.
