The third day of August 2017 turned out to be a day Uganda will live to remember as one of the days when a team of Youth in Uganda, that are passionate about protecting Uganda as the pearl of Africa, had their first meeting to establish a chapter of the Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network (CSAYN) in Uganda. CSYAN was introduced to Uganda by the global Board Member through Kampala Youth Advocacy Development Network (KYADNET).
CSAYN is composed of six(6) committee members who represent different organizations that are engaged in climate smart innovations, Reproductive Health and Democratic Governance. Four of the members attended the meeting and other representatives from KYADNET.
The official launch of the CSAYN Uganda chapter has been scheduled for 26th October 2017.
According to the Country Coordinator, Climate Smart Innovations is one of the key pillars that Uganda will focus on to address issues of unemployment. “Uganda is known to be among the best countries with up upcoming enterprises however most of these enterprises never live to celebrate their first birth day” Says Rwendeire Peniel, the Country Coordinator for Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network.
The establishment of CSAYN-Uganda chapter will build the capacity of Young social entrepreneurs in climate smart innovations in agriculture in Value addition and also in Environment Management through recycling as a Social Enterprise.
The Network will also work with youth-led and youth-focused organizations, government of Uganda through line Ministries and other development partners to influence policies that protect the environment and create an enabling platform for youth engagement in Climate Smart Agriculture.
