Aulia Damayanti of CSAYN attends Commonwealth Youth Summit in Malaysia

Today I joined the first day of Commonwealth youth summit in Semenyih, Malaysia. The day was fruitful and we all had great panel discussions.

The summit was organized by the Commonwealth Youth Council in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Malaysian Government. This summit was the first of its kind to be held in Malaysia.

Key focus topics discussed were Climate Policy and Finance, Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Peace Building and Global inequality and Social Cohesion.

This event aimed to bring the most passionate youth leaders together to exchange experiences, foster learning, inspire and expand capacity through interactive sessions facilitated by various speakers with different backgrounds related to the key topics.

The main panel session discussed Climate Policy and Economy led by Mr. Christ from Climate Tracker. After the panel discussion all participants were divided into 36 groups consisting of people from mixed countries.

An additional discussion was on appropriate regulations that should be proposed to the governments.

The summit was graced by the presence of HRH Prince of Wales through the opening ceremony.

Additionally, Dr. Josephine Ojiambo, Commonwealth Deputy Secretary General, brought keynote speech on how the youth, as agents of change,  are promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in each country.

The last keynote speech was by Datin Paduka Mother A Ngalam, President of the Pure Life Society, an NGO which focuses on interfaith, multi-racial and multi-cultural understanding in Malaysia.

I was honoured to have attended such a great summit graced with amazing speakers.
