Abiy Shimelis a Social Entrepreneur, Civil-Environmental Engineer and youth advocate from Ethiopia. For over four years, he has been actively engaged in mainstreaming youth advocacy in Climate Policy, Regional and Global Development agendas. He currently serves as Country Coordinator and Partnership Manager for the Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network (CSAYN). He is also co-founder of Addis Sustainable Life (ASL) – a green business venture and campus-sustainability program working on recycled paper distribution. He is recipient of The Resolution Project Fellowship awarded to “Socially Responsible Young Leaders” at Harvard University National Model UN, for his work as a social entrepreneur striving to make impact. Since 2015, he was nominated by his government as Party-Member where he continues to represent Ethiopia at the annual UN Framework for Climate Change Conventions (UNFCCC). Prior, he worked with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) as an intern and the African Union Youth Division as an Executive Member for convening the Agenda 2063 Youth Summit. He also successfully hosted the 2015 African Model United Nations (AfroMUN) International Conference held at the African Union Headquarters as its Secretary-General.
