GCSAYN Honors British Society of Soil Science for Continued Support of Youth Driven Climate Initiatives
The Global Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network (GCSAYN) proudly acknowledged the enduring support and commitment of the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS), especially for their sponsorship of delegates to participate in the BSSS Annual Conference 2025. This generous support plays a pivotal role in advancing youth-driven initiatives in climate smart agriculture and sustainability.
In recognition of their steadfast dedication to empowering young leaders and fostering sustainable agricultural practices, GCSAYN recently presented a certificate of appreciation to two prominent figures from BSSS: Prof. Paul Hallett, President of the British Society of Soil Science & Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Partnerships and Development Manager at British Society of Soil Science.
The certificate was graciously handed over by Ulriche Wansi Toussom, a representative of GCSAYN, in a heartfelt ceremony that highlighted the collaboration between the two organizations in the fight against climate change. This ceremony was held on 3rd December 2025 during the BSSS Annual Conference in Manchester, United Kingdom.
“We are truly honored to be recognized by GCSAYN,” said Andy Morris, Executive Director of BSSS. “At the British Society of Soil Science, we believe that empowering the next generation is key to achieving a sustainable future, and we are thrilled to continue our work in supporting youth leaders in the field of climate-smart agriculture.”
Through this sponsorship, BSSS has enabled GCSAYN delegates to attend and contribute to the BSSS Annual Conference 2025, where they will share knowledge, learn from experts, and collaborate on solutions to global climate challenges. The sponsorship is an essential part of BSSS’s ongoing efforts to foster greater awareness and action on soil science and sustainability.
Ulriche Wansi Toussom, speaking on behalf of GCSAYN, expressed gratitude for BSSS’s unwavering support: “This partnership has been instrumental in enabling young leaders to bring fresh ideas and solutions to the table. The future of agriculture is in the hands of youth, and we are proud to have BSSS as a trusted partner in this global movement toward climate-smart agriculture and sustainability.”
As the world faces increasingly urgent climate challenges, partnerships like this one are crucial in advancing the collective mission to address the impacts of climate change. Through mutual collaboration, GCSAYN and BSSS are committed to ensuring that young people are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities to drive meaningful change.
